The sacrifice of the Mass. Is the Lord’s Supper primarily God to us or us to God? That is the question. We’re talking the proper distinction of sacrament and sacrifice and the difference between propitiatory and eucharistic sacrifices – in other words, sacrifices of sin and sacrifices of thanksgiving. This was an important issue at the time of the reformation, and it still is today.

Episode 76: Augsburg Confession (article 22)

Well, we set out to talk about article 22, but we got distracted a bit by an early Christmas present that we opened on the air. When we finally get around to it, Article 22 of the Augsburg Confession is the first of the correct articles dealing with abuses and errors of the medieval Roman church. The first on the table is communion under one kind (bread only) for the laity.

We’re talking about it in this episode, along with some seasonal stuff, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, and yes, you guessed it – more bacon. This time it’s dark chocolate and applewood smoked bacon with alderwood smoked salt. All in good, clean fun. Well, good fun at least.
