Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel occasions of the year. Tens of millions of people in the United States will take to the roads, rails and skies to visit relatives and loved ones. Naturally, if there’s travel involved, the weather will play a big role. Luckily, we’ve got your forecast.

Wednesday, which is the busiest travel day, will be remarkably quiet across the Lower 48, with little in the way of precipitation outside some snow showers in the Intermountain West.

The latter half of the holiday period probably won’t be so tranquil.

For days, weather models have been suggesting the development of a potent storm system in the eastern United States between Friday and the weekend. They have somewhat backed off on their forecasts for its intensity, but significant precipitation could still affect parts of the central and eastern Lower 48.

Vice President Harris is making an unusual stop on her latest trip to Asia. On Monday evening, she is set to become the highest ranking US official to visit Palawan, an island of the Philippines that borders the South China Sea.

It’s a neighboring island to the Spratly Islands, a territory at the center of a protracted dispute between China and nearby countries including the Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam and Malaysia.

China has bulked up man-made islands in the South China Sea, adding airstrips and military installations to the Spratlys. Its maritime claims to

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Fodor’s Travel Guide put Lake Tahoe on its list of “Ten Regions to Reconsider in 2023,” saying the region has become overpopulated.

It says many people moved to the Tahoe area during the COVID-19 pandemic. Those new residents, combined with tourism, led to crowded trails and beaches. The guide says that leads to more trash and air pollution.

LIST: Here are Tahoe ski resorts now open this 2022-23 season

“The article is pretty much saying, ‘Hey, nature needs a break,'” said Andy Chapman, CEO of Travel North Tahoe Nevada. “We align with that. I think a lot of people came into the mountain destinations that they were unfamiliar with, how to interact with a destination like ours, or in the mountains, or what to do with your trash or where to park and we have a responsibility of educating those visitors.”

A family is furious after their 11-year-old son was kicked off a Jetstar flight for traveling without an adult.

Jack Garland, 11, and his sister Scarlett, 13, boarded a flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast in October. Their father was supposed to fly with them but had to come back out due to a last-minute work commitment.

During an appearance on Channel 9’s “Today” show, their mother, Emma Garland, claimed that she contacted the airline prior to her children’s travels to make sure they were still able to fly without their dad. They allegedly said yes since Scarlett was 13.

But Emma claimed that Jack was removed from his seat without explanation given to Scarlett – who stayed on the plane and arrived in the Gold Coast without her brother or even any idea where he was.

In Washington, Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho operates three health centers within 20 miles of the Idaho border. These clinics are now seeing more patients from Idaho, said Dillon. At Planned Parenthood’s clinic in Pullman, 62% of patients in June came from Idaho. In July, that number was 78%. Patient increases also continued at Planned Parenthood’s Spokane Valley and Pullman health centers.

Planned Parenthood saw a 5% increase in patients in Washington state from April through August, and then a 19% increase from August through October, according to Dillon.

While Planned Parenthood clinics near the border had already served Idahoans before the ban went into effect, Dillon said patients from Idaho are also showing up at Planned Parenthood clinics where this has not historically been the case. Clinics seeing patients from Idaho now include Planned Parenthood’s Kennewick and Walla Walla locations, a development Dillon attributed to the
