A recent American Express travel poll revealed more than 50% of people surveyed are already thinking about summer vacation plans.

If international travel is on your list for next summer, some US airlines are focusing on new routes and flights to Europe, said CBS News Travel Editor Peter Greenberg.

“When an airline announces a new route, they do a lot of introductory discount fares,” he said. “Jump on those. You will see a lot of them happen between now and the end of February.”

Another factor to consider for travel next summer: The US dollar is strong.

SALT LAKE CITY — Travel on Utah roads this weekend is expected to be extremely difficult due to multiple winter weather advisories and heavy snow. And travelers driving to the Rose Bowl are advised to leave before Sunday to avoid the worst day of travel.
