episode 170: Happy Circumcision New Year
The Manly Doctors of Divinity take on the sensitive but theologically significant topic of circumcision in a snippy discussion on the occasion of the Name and Circumcision of Our Lord. Also, a special guest appearance from Henning Van Rensburg who sounds like he’s calling from inside a toilet bowl. And if that weren’t enough, more awesome Christmas music.
Music:
Alleluia! Freut Euch – Westminster Abbey Choir
Jesus Ahatonnia (The Huron Carol) – Bruce Cockburn
Go Tell It On the Mountain – Bruce Cockburn
In the Bleak Midwinter – Moya Brennan
O Holy Night – Anuna
Jesus is a Friend of Mine – Sonseed

The appendix serves as a refuge for intestinal flora, to prevent the good bacteria from being wiped out e.g. by diseases such as cholera. Persons who have had their appendices removed need to be much more careful with antibiotics than others. It also plays a role in fetal development that is currently not well understood.
This is an FYI because Rev. Cwirla mentioned at one point in the episode that the appendix is not useless, but was unable to explain why.
